GA CUP

Atlanta Celtics 25 beat Team Georgia Wildcats 64-44 to win the 11 and under division of the Georgia Cup Finals tournament on Sunday. 

The Georgia Wildcats were looking for one thing, and one thing only going into the championship game Sunday afternoon - redemption. Getting a chance to avenge their only loss of the tournament the Georgia Wildcats simply wanted it more. 

Pressing from the jump, the Wildcats were able to force a plethora of turnovers which lead to baskets at the other end. Thomas Rogels dominated from the tip for the Georgia Wildcats, beating the other teams press for and-1 buckets and easy lay-ups. 

A second half spurt from the N.E Jax Gamechangers put the Suns Team Harris way as they won the 16U division championship. The gamechangers were on a tear all weekend, beating several opponents by a double-digit margin. Their defense was stifling as they held the Suns Team Harris to just 38 points total, many of which were earned every bit of the way. Korin Bradley was named as the 16U division MVP and for good reason. Several box scores over the weekend were peppered with his scoring spurts.

The Riviera Beach Chargers went home as champions this past weekend in the 8th grade division at the Florida Girls State Qualifier.  They started things off with a 35-29 win over South Florida Fast Break.  They then defeated Bad Girls 47-38.  They ended pool play with a demoralizing loss to MSC Jr. Allstars, 13-46.  Their 2-1 pool play record earned them a spot in the championship with a chance at redemption against MSC Jr. Allstars.  They took the opportunity at hand and defeated the MSC Jr. Allstars 49-41 to take home the championship.

Congratulations to the Jupiter Jaguars on winning the Florida Girls State Qualifier.  They kicked off the weekend with a 37-34 victory over the Hurricanes.  They followed it up with a commanding 51-29 win over Flight Time.  They then capped off pool play with a 38-35 victory over South Florida Fastbreak.  Their 3-0 mark in pool play placed them into the championship with a rematch against the Hurricanes. This game went almost the same as it did before, with the Jaguars pulling out the win by a score of 46-43.

11U Nike Cy-fair elite academy played some really good basketball and and there team defense and ball movement gave them the edge to win the championship.

12U champions Loyalty 1st

This division was very competitive and most of the games was decided by 1 point. The top team out of Alabama showed they are elite by winning the championship. They made a lot of 3 pointers every game and it was just to much for the opposing team.

10U champions LA Bucks

The LA Bucks played some good basketball and was able to win the championship. They put pressure against there on the other teams and was able to win another championship.

Congratulations to Skills Center Elite on their 9th grade championship at Think Pink.  They kicked of their championship run with a 68-52 win over the Tampa Bayhawks.  They closed out pool play with a close win over Bay Area Hoops Elite 45-37.  In bracket play, they started off in the semis against the St. Paul Stars, who they defeated 60-36 to move into the championship.  This set up a match up with Top Flight Elite to decide who the champions were.  Skills Center Elite rolled through to defeat Top Flight Elite 84-59.

Wolfpack brought home the title at Think Pink in the 8th grade division.  They started their weekend off not how they expected to with a 44-34 defeat to the Tampa Aces.  They bounced back with a 40-25 win over St. Pete Heatwave.  This put them into bracket play where they started off with a 45-18 win over High Hoops to move them into the semis.  They took care of business in the semis against Space Coast Fury, 57-27.  This put them into the finals against the Tampa Aces with a chance at redemption.  They got their revenge as they defeated the Tampa Aces 47-41 to win the championship.
